What is LifeLine™?
The SafetyShield® LifeLine™ System employs synthetic cords that span the width of a filmed window. The system is designed to arrest the inward travel of the filmed glass after it has sheared at the edges during the positive phase of a blast. The cords used in this system are designed to elongate or stretch in order to absorb this energy until the negative phase pulls the shattered glass from the structure, therefore reducing the risk of injury to the occupants of the building. The design of this system also lends itself to retrofit applications where there is an existing film application.
The SafetyShield® LifeLine™ System is primarily specified for use in Blast Mitigation applications.
LifeLine™ is a patented catch cord system used in conjunction with “daylight” fitted blast protection film. The system consists of two cleats with a black catch cord. LifeLine™ has been tested to GSA category C level 3a and ISO 16933 EXV33 level C. LifeLine is a retrofit solution.
Where the window frames are not adequately installed or the surrounding masonry is suspect LifeLine™ can be attached to any other surrounding masonry or stronger metal work. It is quick to install and can be used with existing blast protection film provided it is installed by a Madico Premier Partner and within warranty. The system is favoured by the oil industry where controlled glass failure is often necessary because of the condition of the buildings.
